This seems a lot like the FIAT Conference, is this a similar event? Yes. Yes it is. How astute of you to notice! After some of us attended the amazing conference in Altadena, we were inspired to create our own version in Sacramento for the northern Californians who can't make the trek down south.
Where will the event be held? We will begin the day at 7:00 am with Mass at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 4123 Robertson Avenue, Sacramento 95821. The conference will take place about a mile away in a parklike backyard at a private home. Approximately one month before the event, we will email you the exact address. Please be sure your email address is active or you might not hear from us again!
Will I receive tickets in the mail? We are ticketless! All registration is done via your online ticket purchase. At the time of ticket purchase, you will be asked to enter the first and last name of all attendees. We will use this registration list for check-in the day of the event. What will the weather be like? The average high temperature for Sacramento in June is 84 degrees but if you are familiar with the Sacramento Valley, that means ± 20 degrees. The event is held outdoors and will proceed, no matter the weather, so please check the forecast ahead of time and dress accordingly. We will have professional grade tents to provide shade and misters or heaters, if necessary.
What should I wear? We will attend Mass in the morning, so Mass attire is appropriate, but you will also need to "don” it all day, so we encourage you to dress comfortably. Sacramento tends to be cool in the mornings and evenings, and hot in the middle of the day. To accommodate fluctuations in temperature, we suggest layering. The conference is on a backyard lawn, surrounded by steps, so please consider this when selecting your shoes. Fig leaves are discouraged. Please also no gang-affiliated attire (wink).
Will there be food served? Yes! Attendees will enjoy a continental breakfast with coffee and tea. A delicious catered lunch of sandwiches, salads, bread and desserts, with iced tea, lemonade, and water ... and more coffee! Can you accommodate my food allergy and/or dietary restriction? We will do our best to provide allergy friendly options at lunch (vegetarian, gluten-free, sugar-free), but cannot promise to accommodate everyone. If you have a severe sensitivity or allergy, please plan to bring a bag lunch. You will have access to a refrigerator and microwave.
Can I bring my baby? Babies in arms are welcome, along with their gear (stroller, bouncy seat, pack n’play, baby monitor—for the cribs/beds available—first to sleep, first served). Attendees will have access to a refrigerator and a microwave. There are quiet places available for nursing, but we would rather you nurse at the table and not miss a moment of the conference!
Are Kids Allowed? Is There Daycare? We are pro-life and love kids, but this event is geared to be a retreat-like atmosphere. Daughters eighteen and up are welcome to register and join us at the conference. Younger girls will have to wait until they come of age. Something to look forward to! We would love to provide daycare but as this is our first year and at a private residence, we are not yet set up for it. Perhaps for future conferences?
Can I Bring My Hubby? The conference is an event for women, but we hope your husband (or fiance, boyfriend or bae) will join us at the Holy Hour and/or Underwriter Dinner the night before, or at Leatherby’s Family Creamery for dinner and more ice cream than you could possibly eat after the Conference ends! We are already receiving requests for a men’s conference; hopefully we can fulfill these soon!
Is this for Catholics Only? This is a Catholic event, but non-Catholic women are welcome to join us! If you have questions about how non-Catholics can attend Mass, please let us know. We would love to share our faith with you!
Is there an age requirement? This event is for Catholic women, of all ages (above 18) and stages of life.
Is this event wheelchair accessible? Yes and no. The front yard, front entrance, and backyard and back entrance are street-level accessible, on all sides. However, there are no ramps leading up and down the stairs within the yard, so that will take a bit of maneuvering, but we hope this won’t deter anyone. There will be many strong hands and willing hearts to help!
What is the Underwriters' Dinner? In order to keep the cost of our event accessible and provide for the comfort of our guests, we host an Underwriters' Dinner. This is an optional event, held the evening before the conference. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
